Junior Radar Engineer

Hybrid
  • Kiyosumi Shirakawa, Tokyo, Japan
Data Production Department

Job description

Synspective is building a constellation of SAR satellites that will produce hundreds of images of the Earth everyday. We are looking for a radar engineer to develop, implement and evaluate various algorithms for radar data processing, calibration and image quality assurance.

Responsibility

Developing algorithms at Synspective requires making effective use of the theoretical concepts acquired during your academic training. Balancing practical considerations and creativity is also important as several datasets are generated daily and they shape the evolution of the algorithm itself. Such an effort is integrated in a highly cooperative environment where different fields of expertise are available; receiving effective support is as expected as sharing your knowledge with others. As an example, a theoretically sound algorithm can be significantly sped up thanks to the support of software engineers; also, the effectiveness of an algorithm can be tested on specific acquisitions planned together with the satellite operation’s team.

Details of work

  • Analyzing the quality of SAR images

  • Developing algorithms and software for processing and analyzing SAR images

  • Contributing to designing, reviewing and system engineering of future systems

Selling points of this role

  • Develop advanced signal processing routines that can deal with large, multi-gigabyte datasets

  • Learn about spaceborne SAR at one of the few companies active in this area

  • Collaborate with engineers with diverse specialities (satellite engineering, signal and image processing, data science, machine learning, …
